Before Your Tattoo
After you've submitted the booking form, I'll review your idea and respond as quickly as possible. I'll provide you with available scheduling times/dates and may ask some questions to understand your tattoo idea better.
Once we've confirmed an appointment, I'll request a deposit to secure your booking. Following that, I'll begin working on your design and will share either sketches or a completed design with you.
You're encouraged to communicate any changes or suggestions during this stage. We can also address any further details during your appointment.
Please note that each tattoo process is unique, and adjustments to the process may occur based on individual needs. In some cases, I may suggest a consultation appointment to ensure we capture your vision accurately.
To ensure the best tattoo experience, please follow these guidelines:
Make sure you hydrate and eat a proper meal before your session.
Inform me ahead of time if you have any allergies or are using any medication.
Please do not drink alcohol or use drugs before the appointment.
Plan your schedule so that you have plenty of time for the session.
Keep your tattoo placement out of direct sunlight. I cannot tattoo you if you arrive with a sunburn.
Come in comfortable clothes where stains wouldn’t matter to you.
If you are running late, please inform me ahead of time.
Our session is a safe place!
Creating a comfortable and open room is one of my highest priority, I want you to enjoy the journey of getting a tattoo and feel comfortable to speak out about what’s on your mind!
Things you should never apologize for while getting a tattoo:
Replacing a stencil for the 5th time
Being in pain
Needing a break
Sweating
Having body hair or a skin condition
Asking for a snack or a drink
I work in a private studio in the center of Lisbon, in the Chiado district. Because we are private, I cannot give you the exact address.
You can pay via PayPal, MBWay, or bank transfer. Although cash is always preferred.
It depends on the size and placement. For smaller tattoos, it won’t take longer than an hour. For medium and larger sizes, plan for 2-4 hours. You can always ask me directly for a more specific estimate.
The deposit fee secures your tattoo appointment and covers my time working on the tattoo design if the client doesn’t show up. Deposits are usually around €50 and are deducted from the final tattoo price. In some cases of rescheduling or cancellation, I will require another deposit. The first deposit will not be deducted from the final price.
If you are running 5-15 minutes late, just inform me or the studio that you are on your way. In case of extended late arrivals, I will either reschedule you (if I have another customer waiting) with a new deposit fee, or there will be a €20 fee added to your tattoo price.
Aftercare
You can leave the second skin on for up to 3 days. If the second skin is not holding up (this can happen in sweaty climates) or you develop a rash, you should remove it.
A rash can happen if you have an allergic reaction to the adhesive. It doesn’t affect the healing process as long as you remove the second skin and follow the aftercare steps. Tip: Remove the second skin in the shower with warm water to loosen the adhesive.
Wash with clear water or pH-neutral soap.
Tap dry with a clean towel or paper towel.
Apply a thin layer of tattoo cream 2-3 times a day for the next 4 weeks.
Keep it Clean - Gently wash your tattoo with mild, unscented, pH-neutral soap and lukewarm water to remove any excess ink, blood, or ointment. Pat it dry with a clean, soft towel—avoid rubbing or scrubbing the area.
Moisturize Regularly - Apply a thin layer of tattoo moisturizer to your tattoo several times a day to keep the skin hydrated and promote healing.
Keep it in the Shade - Shield your new tattoo from direct sunlight by wearing loose clothing. Sun exposure can fade your tattoo and increase the risk of sunburn.
Follow Aftercare Instructions - Listen to your tattoo artist's aftercare advice and follow their instructions carefully. They know best how to care for your specific tattoo and ensure optimal healing and longevity.
Stay Hydrated - Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Proper hydration supports the healing process and helps maintain the vibrancy of your tattoo.
Be Patient - Allow your tattoo to heal at its own pace.
Monitor for Signs of Infection - Keep an eye on your tattoo for any signs of infection, such as excessive redness, swelling, warmth, or pus. If you suspect an infection, contact your tattoo artist or tattoo studio.
Over-moisturizing - While keeping your tattoo moisturized is important, overdoing it can clog pores and lead to pimples, increasing the risk of infection. Follow your tattoo artist's recommendations for moisturizing frequency and use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer.
Bathing - While it's essential to keep your tattoo clean, prolonged exposure to water, especially in baths or swimming pools, can cause the skin to swell and potentially lead to ink loss or uneven healing. Opt for quick showers instead of baths, and avoid soaking your tattoo in water until it's fully healed.
Scented Soap - Many scented soaps contain harsh ingredients like alcohol and fragrances that can irritate your new tattoo and disrupt the healing process. Stick to gentle, unscented soaps when cleaning your tattoo to avoid any unnecessary irritation or complications.
Shaving - While it might be tempting to tidy up the area around your new tattoo, it's best to hold off on shaving until it's fully healed. Shaving can irritate the sensitive skin and increase the risk of infection.
Touching, Picking, and Scratching - Resist the urge to touch or pick at your new tattoo, no matter how itchy it may become. Picking can disrupt the healing process and increase the risk of scarring and infection.
Wearing Tight Clothing - Tight clothing can rub against your new tattoo, causing irritation and potentially damaging the delicate skin. Opt for loose, breathable clothing that allows your tattoo to breathe and heal properly.
Tattoo cream is a specific kind of moisturizing cream that keeps your tattoo guarded, clean, and protects the color. My personal favorite is Hustle Butter https://www.hustlebutter.com, but any tattoo cream will work. You can find tattoo creams in pharmacies or online.
Note: In our tattoo studio, we do not sell tattoo creams.
Please don’t use regular body butter, coconut oil, or Vaseline.
The summer months are key! Keep your tattoo moisturized throughout the summer with a good aftercare cream or lotion. Sunscreen is also necessary! Protecting yourself from harmful UV rays will keep that ink bright for years to come. Prolonged sun exposure can cause your tattoo to fade, blur, or even develop sunburn-like symptoms. And, of course, stay hydrated!
Touch-ups are very normal in the industry. I usually combine touch-ups with a new tattoo idea to save you the touch-up fee of €30. If you just want a touch-up, contact me through my email linaroesser@icloud.com or my Instagram @leeean_ink.
