Meaning "floating ink," Suminagashi is a traditional Japanese marbling technique in which ink is placed onto still water and allowed to move freely into patterns that could never be planned or repeated.

Over the past four years, this practice has become a deep part of how I work and draw inspiration from — something I keep returning to for its honesty, its unpredictability, and the way it never lets you fully control it.

In this workshop, you'll learn the basics of this fascinating technique and create your own series of marbled artworks. Together, we'll explore the movement of ink and water, embracing spontaneity, imperfection, and the beauty of the unexpected.

After the workshop, you'll select your favourite pattern, which I will transform into a custom abstract tattoo design. The result is a piece that is deeply personal — a collaboration between you, nature, and the tattooing process.

Each pattern exists for only a brief moment before it is captured on paper, making every design completely unique. Your tattoo becomes a permanent reminder of that singular moment in time.
